Elgeyo Marakwet County Launches 10-Day National ID Registration Drive
These community leaders will be crucial in reaching residents who have missed out on vital government services due to the lack of ID documents.

The government aims to register 60000 new applicants.
The Principal Secretary for Immigration and Citizen Services, Dr. Belio Kipsang, has officially launched a 10-day Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) in Elgeyo Marakwet County aimed at issuing national IDs to 60000 new applicants. The program operates in 15 counties which include the ongoing campaign to resolve past registration problems that emerged during citizen registration through security-related issues.

Focus on Overcoming Registration Challenges
The government services initiative process which Dr. Kipsang presented at KMTC Iten creates a crucial pathway for Kenyans to access essential government services. "The drive targets individuals who have not registered nationally because security issues and other problems prevented their registration," he explained.

Community Leaders Key to Success
Dr. Kipsang identified local chiefs with their assistant chiefs as essential personnel who will determine the successful implementation of the RRI project. He explained that community leaders will assist in identifying residents who need ID documents while getting them to participate in the project.

Bridging the Gap in Citizen Services
The Rapid Results Initiative improves registration processes to enable complete government service delivery to all citizens. The program will issue IDs to thousands of applicants which will enable residents to participate in civic, social and economic activities.

Looking Ahead
The 10-day drive in Elgeyo Marakwet is part of a nationwide effort to improve ID registration efficiency and ensure that all eligible citizens can participate in government programs and services. Officials hope the collaboration with community leaders will serve as a model for similar initiatives in other counties.
