Celebrating Radio, Creating the Future: Inside TENP’s EcoVibe Launch
As the microphones go live and new voices take the airwaves, EcoVibe Radio stands not only as a station, but as a symbol of innovation, learning, and the future of radio at TENP Press Club.

The celebration of the airwaves that unite communities across the world took a different turn in 2026 at The Eldoret National Polytechnic.

As the world marked World Radio Day, journalism students — with guidance from their trainers — successfully put a radio station on air in grand style. The result was the launch of EcoVibe Radio, a new digital voice shaping the future of campus broadcasting.

EcoVibe Radio is a station designed to nurture creativity among students, build confidence, and sharpen practical media skills as young journalists prepare to step into the competitive media industry.

The move was warmly welcomed by the institution’s Chief Principal, Dr. Charles Koech, who described the launch as a major opportunity for students to experience the real media industry early enough in their training.

“I’m so excited today that our trainees are launching EcoVibe. This is an opportunity for them not only to utilize the skills they have learned in their program but also to reach out to young people within and outside the campus because radio is a powerful tool of communication,” said the Principal.

Speaking on this year’s World Radio Day theme, Radio and AI, the Principal — a fan of Rhumba and country music — emphasized that artificial intelligence and modern technology are opening new doors for the media industry, creating space for innovation and digital platforms such as EcoVibe Radio to thrive.

Journalism Course Coordinator Noela Sakwa also celebrated the milestone, praising students for taking a bold step toward practical learning. Speaking during the breakfast show Rauka Ndani ya Eco, hosted by Rahab Gati, she noted that the initiative makes her proud and reflects the growth and determination of the journalism trainees.

EcoVibe Radio is a fully online station. Its digital-first approach allows it to reach a wider audience, especially young people who spend most of their time online. Through this platform, students gain real-world experience in live broadcasting, content production, and digital storytelling — skills that are increasingly essential in today’s evolving media landscape.

As the microphones go live and new voices take the airwaves, EcoVibe Radio stands not only as a station, but as a symbol of innovation, learning, and the future of radio at TENP Press Club.

World Radio Day at TENP was more than a celebration — it was a bold statement that the next generation of broadcasters is ready, on air, and creating the future.
