Huduma Mashinani Barazas Bring Government Services Closer to Nandi Residents
The Commissioner Kilonzo said that organizations need to develop trustworthy systems which will help them achieve their development goals through collaborative public efforts.

Grassroots Outreach Transforms Service Delivery

Nandi County is experiencing a significant transformation which remains unnoticed by most people because the national government increases its implementation of Huduma Mashinani barazas. The initiative seeks to establish decentralized public service points which will provide essential services directly to citizens at the grassroots level.

The outreach program commenced its first activities in Nandi East Sub-County at Himaki Centre grounds under the leadership of Nandi County Commissioner Wilberforce Kilonzo. The forums have spread to additional locations which include Ngechek Centre in Chesumei and various areas of Tinderet Sub-County.

The Huduma Mashinani forums enable communities to learn about government services through direct government service distribution to local residents. Residents now have access to multiple services which include Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) customer support and National Identity Card registration and Social Health Authority (SHA) services without needing to travel to urban centres.

Whole-of-Government Approach

The barazas have drawn participation from Heads of Departments within the national government, members of the county security team, and representatives from the Nandi County Government. The public engagement process together with service delivery methods demonstrates the governmentwide dissemination of its comprehensive strategy.

Commissioner Kilonzo told Ngechek forum attendees about all the occasions which they should take advantage of through the program. He mentioned that the government has invested substantial funds to support youth development and agricultural work and small business activities.

He cautioned parents against taking part in illegal protests to solve educational issues between schools and home because those actions create wrong ideas for children. Residents need to use proper legal practices to solve their problems according to established administrative methods.

Social Responsibility and Legal Awareness

Kilonzo further expressed his concerns about social issues when he warned people against early marriages and domestic violence which he classified as crimes that receive punishment according to Kenyan law. People who experience inheritance conflicts should establish peaceful property-sharing agreements through elder mediation and local administrator involvement.

The County Commissioner urged residents to join SHA because it grants them access to cost-effective medical services. Farmers need to work together with agricultural officers to achieve higher productivity levels which will enhance their wellbeing.

Forum attendees expressed gratitude for the initiative because it made government services more available by cutting down their need to travel long distances to town.

The resident said that this exercise provides vital assistance to those who lacked the means to reach town for services because now the government delivers services directly to our area.

Conservation and Environmental Protection

The barazas provide community members with information about environmental conservation practices. Nandi Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Warden Augustine Langat called on residents to safeguard wetlands and wildlife habitats, emphasizing that conservation presents both environmental and economic benefits.

He described Kingwal Swamp wetlands as essential water sources and home to rare Sitatunga antelope. Langat emphasized that all wetlands remain protected ecosystems which maintain their status regardless of their location on privately owned properties.

The warden said that all wetlands belong to animal habitats and water sources which require our protection.

The warden warned young people to avoid damaging wetlands through unlawful hunting practices while he advised them to pursue education and responsible environmental protection. He explained that wildlife moves and establishes territories throughout different counties which creates a need for collaborative efforts in conservation work.

Strengthening Citizen-Government Relations

The continuing operation of Huduma Mashinani barazas throughout Nandi County demonstrates the government's dedication to achieving inclusive development while fostering citizen engagement. The Commissioner Kilonzo said that organizations need to develop trustworthy systems which will help them achieve their development goals through collaborative public efforts.

The outreach program has established village-level service points which residents now use to visit registration and sensitization sessions that create a new partnership between citizens and the state in Nandi County.
