As the marking of more than 200,000 TVET CDACC examination scripts for the November/December 2025 series begins, the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (TVET CDACC) has issued a strict directive on phone usage during the entire exercise.
Assessors Advised to Avoid Phone Use During Marking
Speaking during a marking briefing held at the Eldoret National Polytechnic, which brought together assessors from the North Rift region, Dr. John Kiberenge, the Head of Section–TVET CDACC Assessment, warned assessors to strictly limit phone use.

“Phone management is very crucial during the marking period,” Dr. Kiberenge said. “As much as we expect you to be professional, please ensure you only use your phone during break times. We have enough breaks — just use the phone during the break.”
Call for Professionalism and Impartiality
Dr. Kiberenge also emphasized the importance of fairness, integrity and neutrality during the process, cautioning assessors against any form of bias.
“As an assessor, avoid vested interest in a candidate’s paper. Stay away from nepotism and tribalism,” he added.

A Critical National Exercise
The ongoing marking exercise is expected to pave the way for timely release of results, ensuring that thousands of TVET trainees can proceed with their academic and professional progression.
