Kenya Railways Managing Director Mr. Philip Mainga on Friday hosted members of the Parliamentary Committee on Implementation at the Mombasa Terminus and Kenya Railways freight loading zone within the Mombasa Port.
The committee, led by Budalangi Member of Parliament Hon. Raphael Wanjala, toured the facilities to assess ongoing developments and review the progress Kenya Railways has made in expanding its transport network.
In their observations, the lawmakers commended the state corporation for its pivotal role in easing the movement of passengers and cargo across the country. They noted that the efficient rail services have significantly reduced road traffic congestion and contributed to improved logistics efficiency, especially along the busy Mombasa-Nairobi corridor.
Hon. Wanjala praised the recent introduction of the Premium Class coaches, saying it reflects a deliberate effort by Kenya Railways to enhance customer experience.

He further applauded the modern waiting lounges at key stations, which he described as a mark of growing confidence in the public transport system.
The Committee pledged to recommend more government support for Kenya Railways, with the goal of helping the agency attain globally competitive standards in service delivery.
“We are impressed by the strides Kenya Railways has made. From comfortable rides to improved cargo handling, the progress is visible,” read part of the official statement shared by Kenya Railways online.
The visit underscores ongoing partnerships between state agencies and the legislature in ensuring public investments translate to tangible benefits for ordinary Kenyans.
Kenya Railways continues to prioritize modernization and expansion of its services as part of the national transport and infrastructure agenda.
