The two countries of India and Kenya have officially confirmed their intention to strengthen their diplomatic ties through enhanced trade and development assistance and diplomatic activities between their two nations.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary together with the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi stated that Kenya will continue to develop its long-term relationship with India because both countries share democratic values and historical ties and their cooperation has increased in vital fields. The ongoing development of diplomatic ties between both countries will proceed through the pursuit of shared objectives and shared goals for global economic growth and international cooperation.
The Prime CS praised India for its outstanding transformation which resulted in India becoming the most populous democratic nation and the fifth most powerful economy throughout the world. He recognized that India has emerged as a crucial global power because of its economic strength and diplomatic activities which have raised its international standing.
Mudavadi acknowledged that India leads efforts to protect Global South interests through its worldwide activities. He described India’s support of the African Union’s ascension as an everlasting G20 member state as which represents a key milestone for developing nations to achieve their target of increased representation in international decision making.
According to the Prime CS, Kenya benefits from studying Indian digital transformation methods which provide essential knowledge for developing integrated digital governance systems and delivering public services efficiently. He explained that India’s advances in digital technology match with Kenya’s development goals which aim to enhance service delivery effectiveness and transparency while expanding access to citizens.
Mudavadi traced the origins of historical connections which bind Kenya and India to their early trade relations and shared experiences in fighting against colonialism. He acknowledged that Kenyans of Indian descent have made significant contributions to Kenya’s social and economic development because they serve as an essential connection which unites the two nations.
Mudavadi presented recent examples of diplomatic activities between both countries because high-level meetings between both countries have deepened their diplomatic relationship since President William Ruto visited India in December 2023. The two countries have begun preparing to start negotiations on a trade agreement which will increase their trade volume and investment flow and create new business opportunities in Kenya and India.
