The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) has joined the rest of the nation in mourning the tragic demise of Kenya’s former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, who was confirmed dead this morning while undergoing treatment in India. The former premier was 80 years old at the time of his passing.
Chief Principal Leads Institution in Tribute
Speaking during the launch of the 14th Annual International Conference, Skills Competition, Innovations, and Expo (CIRIS 2025) at the institution, Chief Principal Dr. Charles Koech, OGW, described the late Odinga as a true statesman, emphasizing that Kenya has lost a powerful figure.

“Being a statesman, I know this country has lost someone who was very important, especially in the fight for democracy. We send our deepest condolences to the family,” said Dr. Koech.
Remembering a National Icon
Raila Odinga, who served as Kenya’s first Prime Minister following the 2007/2008 post-election crisis, will be remembered by many as a leader who stood firm for the nation during its most challenging times. His legacy as a champion of democracy and social justice continues to inspire generations.
