The Eldoret National Polytechnic Chief Principal Charles Koech, OGW, has urged students joining the institution for the September 2026 intake to embrace Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a pathway to building successful careers.
The institution is expecting about 3,500 new students, with the September intake scheduled to begin on August 31, 2026, according to an official institutional memo.
Speaking to KCN Africa during an interview at his office, Koech said TENP has the capacity to train, assess and certify learners under TVET accreditation.
“We are able to train, assess and certify our own curriculum. We have been enabled by TVETA,” he said.
TENP strengthens industry partnerships
Koech said the institution has strengthened its collaboration with industry to ensure students gain practical skills that match workplace demands.
“We are working very closely with the industry 50% in school and 50% in the industry to give students the field skills needed,” he said.
He said the approach is intended to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical experience while preparing graduates for the job market.
Principal calls for parental support
The TENP principal also urged parents and guardians to support students throughout their training.
He said consistent support would help learners remain focused, complete their courses and acquire skills that can enable them to build sustainable careers.
As the September intake approaches, Koech encouraged new students to view TVET not merely as an alternative education pathway, but as an opportunity to acquire practical skills and pursue meaningful careers.
