Rising star Yasmin Chebet delivered a performance for the ages, netting five goals to steer Nandi County to a resounding 6-0 victory over Bomet in the Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) Regional Games semi-final at The Eldoret National Polytechnic on Tuesday.

A Star is Born

With electric pace and clinical finishing, Chebet tore through Bomet’s defense almost at will. She opened her account early, then secured a first-half hat-trick before adding two more in the second period, leaving fans and opponents in awe. Teammate Cheptoo put the final nail in the coffin with a late sixth goal.

“I’m happy to help my team reach the final. We’ve trained hard and played with heart,” said Chebet, visibly elated after the match.

Her five-goal blitz not only confirmed her status as a key figure in Nandi’s title charge but also lit up a tournament already brimming with young talent.

Tactical Masterclass

Nandi’s dominance was not just about individual brilliance. The side displayed excellent organization, pressing high and maintaining sharp passing rhythms.

Bomet, who had impressed earlier in the tournament, struggled to respond under relentless pressure.On the touchline, Nandi’s technical bench orchestrated each move with purpose, ensuring their team remained compact, confident, and clinical throughout.

The JSS Regional Games, hosted under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, have brought together teams from 15 counties, competing across football, volleyball, netball, handball, and athletics. The goal: to unearth the next generation of sporting talent while promoting holistic development through sport.

With the finals in sight, Nandi heads into the title clash with momentum and belief. And if Chebet’s form holds, few would bet against them lifting the regional crown.
