
The Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project (KISIP) is mourning the death of Eng. Abraham Josiah Ochieng Owiro, who passed away on July 25, 2025. He will be laid to rest on August 2 at his home in Ahono Village, East Gem Ward, Siaya County.
A Life of Service
Eng. Owiro served as the Supervising Consultant for KISIP operations in Lamu and Kilifi counties. Known for his technical precision and dedication to service, he played a critical role in improving infrastructure and living conditions in informal settlements.
His projects included roads, drainage, and housing enhancements that benefited thousands across Kenya’s coastal counties.

On behalf of the Governor and the Lamu County Coordinating Team, KISIP Coordinator Architect Omar Sagaff expressed deep sorrow at the loss.
“Eng. Owiro was a man who loved his work, a true professional and a man of excellence,” said Sagaff. “Lamu too will miss his input, especially in advancing the KISIP project and improving the lives of residents in informal settlements.”

Across the national KISIP network, colleagues remember Eng. Owiro for his leadership, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to public service. His legacy is etched in the improved neighborhoods he helped create and the professional standards he set.
