Residents of Kitui were left in disbelief this week after a suspected thief returned all the items he had allegedly stolen over the past several months and sought forgiveness at dawn.
The quiet village awoke to find chairs, livestock, and even jewelry that had previously disappeared placed neatly back in their original locations. The unexpected act stunned neighbors, many of whom had long lost hope of recovering their belongings.
Witnesses said the man appeared shaken and remorseful as he admitted to the thefts. He reportedly confessed that he could no longer live with the guilt and felt compelled by an unseen force to return everything he had taken.
Elders Seek Intervention
The village elders had gone to Dr. Kashiririra after the community experienced a series of mysterious thefts that disturbed the peace. The elders feared the incidents may have angered ancestral spirits and believed that divine intervention was necessary to prevent further misfortune.
Dr. Kashiririka conducted sacred prayers and rituals at the village according to village sources to restore community harmony.
Rituals Said to Encourage Remorse
Dr. Kashiririka used sacred prayers and herbal talismans and what he described as a mystical spell of repentance to create an atmosphere that encouraged truth and remorse and reconciliation.
The thief admitted his inability to sleep at night after the ritual. He said he woke up at dawn, gathered the stolen items, and returned them to their rightful owners before seeking forgiveness from both the victims and the spirits.
Call for Restorative Justice
Dr. Kashiririka explained that justice requires punishment in certain cases after the incident.
“Sometimes, justice requires more than punishment. The community can achieve peace through divine guidance, rituals, and sacred herbs that activate conscience and restore balance without causing harm,” he said.
The incident has created different responses among residents because some residents support the peaceful resolution while others express confusion about the strange events that occurred.
