Madrasa teacher charged with defiling a 13-year-old girl was released on bail.
The accused also faces an alternative count of an indecent act with the minor by touching her private parts.

The madrasa teacher charged with the defiling of a 13-year-old girl was set free on bond by the Eldoret Court on Monday.

Abdullahi Khalif was granted Ksh. 300,000 bond or an alternative of cash bail of Ksh. 150,000 by Senior Principal Magistrate Cheronoh Kesse after he had pleaded not guilty to the charges of defilement.

The count of defilement charged was contrary to the provisions of Section 8(1) as read together with Section 8(3) of the Sexual Offences Act No.3 of 2006.

He was charged on diverse dates between October 20, 2025, and November 30, 2025, at Kambi Mwangi area in Turbo sub-county within Uasin-Gishu county, with the intentional and unlawful defilement of the minor.

The accused also faces an alternative count of an indecent act with the minor by touching her private parts.

Earlier, the prosecution had opposed him being granted bond or cash bail, arguing he might abscond from justice since the whereabouts of the accused was said to be unknown.

They also stated that the unfortunate community where the madrasa teacher was residing was still baying for his blood, should he be released from custody, after he was accused of molesting a minor with special needs.

But his defense attorney Richard Warigi dismissed those assertions made by the prosecution, adding that his residence was more than well publicized.

Warigi informed the instance that the accused person was enjoying rights under the Constitution and that it had to be taken into consideration by the court that he is presumed innocent until proven otherwise. He assured the Magistrate that his client would present himself in court wherever required. The Magistrate directed that the case be mentioned on January 29, 2026, for further directions.
