Hon. Catherine Kenga elected as Kilifi County Assembly Speaker
Her election follows the recent impeachment of former Speaker Teddy Ngumbao Mwambire on 30th June. Mwambire was removed from office over allegations of gross misconduct, incompetence, and abuse of office. The motion was supported by 40 MCAs, paving the way for fresh leadership in the assembly.

Hon. Catherine Kenga has been sworn in as the new Speaker of the Kilifi County Assembly, making history as the first woman to ever hold the position in the county.Her swearing-in ceremony took place earlier today, where she garnered an overwhelming 41 out of 47 votes cast by Members of County Assembly (MCAs), confirming strong support across the political divide.

Governor Mung’aro congratulates new Speaker

Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro, who attended the ceremony, took to his official social media handles to commend Hon. Kenga for her achievement.

"I had the honour of witnessing her swearing-in today, after securing 41 out of 47 votes cast. As the first woman elected to this position, Hon. Kenga sets a powerful example and opens the door for more women to lead. I also commend all the other candidates for their participation and commitment to public service.” He wrote.
