ELDOWAS and The Nature Conservancy today launched the IFAD Mid-Term Review Mission for the Eldoret-Iten Water Fund (EIWF).

The launch event was held in Eldoret. It marked a key step in the Water Fund’s journey toward full implementation.

Focus on Conservation

Dr. Lawrence Tanui, ELDOWAS Managing Director, said the company is committed to protecting water sources.

“ELDOWAS remains fully committed to securing our water future through watershed conservation,” he said.

Impressive Results

The project has planted over 1.4 million trees. More than 75% of them have survived.

In addition, 36,400 farmers are now using sustainable land practices. These efforts are improving soil health and reducing erosion.

Water Quality Matters

Eldoret relies fully on surface water. Sedimentation increases water treatment costs.

By controlling runoff and protecting rivers, the fund is helping keep water clean and treatment costs low. EIWF is now transitioning into a fully-fledged Water Fund.

ELDOWAS has pledged full support going forward.
