In line with its commitment to offer hands-on, industry-relevant training, the Wildlife Research and Training Institute (WRTI) has successfully concluded a mentorship program in collaboration with Enashipai Resort & Spa.
Bridging Classroom and Industry
The program, aimed at students pursuing Tourism and Hospitality Management, is part of WRTI’s broader mission to prepare learners for real-world challenges in the dynamic hospitality sector. Through the partnership, trainees were immersed in live hotel operations, translating theoretical lessons into practical experience.

“This initiative is a significant milestone in bridging the gap between classroom learning and professional industry practice,” noted a statement from the Institute.
Immersive Learning in Key Departments
Students were attached to core departments including front office, housekeeping, food production, and restaurant service. A major highlight of the program was their active involvement in the food and beverage service chain, where they participated in guest handling, kitchen-to-service coordination, and quality assurance.
This structured exposure not only strengthened their technical know-how but also helped refine essential soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and professional etiquette—key traits required in today’s hospitality workforce.
A Valuable Partnership
The Institute has extended heartfelt appreciation to the management and staff of Enashipai Resort & Spa for their invaluable support and mentorship throughout the program. Their dedication, professionalism, and openness played a critical role in making the exercise impactful for the trainees.
Future-Ready Graduates
By integrating mentorship and field attachments into its academic framework, the Wildlife Research and Training Institute continues to set the pace in nurturing competent, industry-ready graduates for Kenya’s growing tourism and hospitality sector.
