ENA Coach has confirmed that one of its buses, registration number KDE 279Q, was involved in a fatal accident on the night of 9 August 2025 while en route from Nairobi to Kehancha.
The bus, which departed Nairobi at approximately 8 p.m. with 47 passengers and 3 crew members, was struck from the rear by a truck that had lost its brakes while descending the Escarpment near the historical Catholic Church. The truck had already hit two other vehicles before colliding with the bus, causing it to veer off the road and overturn.

Casualties and Injuries
Two passengers — a woman and a minor — lost their lives in the crash. Several others sustained injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals with the help of St. John Ambulance teams, police, and volunteers. Most of those admitted have since been treated, cleared, and discharged.
Company Condolences and Cooperation
In the statement, ENA Coach expressed deep sorrow over the incident.
“Our hearts go out to the families and friends who have lost loved ones in this tragedy. We extend our deepest condolences and stand with you in this time of grief. To those injured, we offer our sincere wishes for a swift and complete recovery,” read the statement signed by Chief Executive Officer Richard Mogire.
The company also confirmed that it is cooperating fully with authorities in the ongoing investigation, reaffirming its commitment to passenger safety and exemplary service.
Call for Road Safety
ENA Coach thanked all who assisted during the emergency and emphasised the need for collective responsibility in maintaining safety on Kenyan roads.
