NAIROBI, Kenya — President William Ruto has congratulated Morocco for clinching the CHAN 2024 Championship, terming it a well-deserved victory that reflects the strength and talent of African football.
Morocco Crowned Champions
President Ruto who attended the final match at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, he applauded the champions while extending appreciation to all teams, officials, and organisers who contributed to the successful hosting of the tournament.

“This is a well-earned victory. We appreciate all the teams, officials, and organisers who worked tirelessly to make this tournament a success,” he stated through his official social media platforms.
Lessons for AFCON 2027
Kenya, which co-hosted the continental tournament alongside other partner nations, used the opportunity to gain valuable experience in event organisation. President Ruto noted that the lessons learned from hosting CHAN will be instrumental as the country prepares to co-host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027.
“We take to heart the lessons of co-hosting this tournament, and we will use them to sharpen our preparation for AFCON 2027,” he said.
A Spirit of Pan-Africanism
Beyond football, President Ruto emphasized the deeper significance of the tournament. He highlighted how CHAN 2024 strengthened African unity and showcased the continent’s resilience and shared identity.

“CHAN 2024 has affirmed the spirit of Pan-Africanism. It has showcased the unity, resilience, and immense talent of our continent. From North to South, East to West, Africa’s sons and daughters displayed not only footballing brilliance but also the bonds that tie us together as one people,” he remarked.
