The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) joined the rest of the nation in marking Mazingira Day through a series of impactful activities aimed at promoting environmental conservation, climate action, and sustainability.
At the main campus, the event was spearheaded by the Deputy Principal – Academics, Madam Penninah Ogutu, where a total of 100 fruit trees were planted. Also present were the Dean of Students Mr. Chemitei, the Greening Champion Mr. Ngenoh, the Deputy Dean, student leaders, and various student clubs, including the Environment Club, Scouts, and Equity Scholars Club.

TENP students and staff participated in a clean-up exercise at Sokomo Market, led by the Greening Champion and the Chair of the Environment Club. The activity aimed to sensitize the public on maintaining clean surroundings and practicing proper waste management — a key step toward building sustainable communities.
Tree planting at Kaptuktuk Primary School
The institution also took part in a tree-planting event at Kaptuktuk Primary School, led by the Principal Secretary for Basic Education, Prof. Julius Bitok, an alumnus of the school. The exercise was graced by dignitaries including County Commissioner Dr. E. Nyale and Members of Parliament from Moiben, Kesses, Soy, and Chesumei constituencies.
