As the world marks Cancer Awareness Month, The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) has called on its students to play an active role in creating awareness about the disease and showing compassion to those affected.
Speaking in an interview with Kenya Coastal News, the institution’s Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Health, Juliet Mokiera Patricks, emphasized the importance of kindness and emotional support for cancer patients.
She urged her fellow students to demonstrate love, empathy, and encouragement to those living with the illness, noting that such gestures can bring strength and hope to many battling the disease.
“To the students of The Eldoret National Polytechnic, please show love to the patients suffering from cancer. It’s very tough for them, but through love and encouragement, we can give them hope again,” Mokiera said.

Standing With Cancer Patients
Mokiera revealed that on November 1, students from the polytechnic will dedicate their time to stand with cancer patients across Uasin Gishu County through a charity initiative focused on support and awareness.
She expressed gratitude to Chief Principal Dr. Charles Koech, OGW, for his continued support and encouragement of community-centered programs.
“We will support them—whether it’s through buying a T-shirt or any other contribution—because every act counts. We thank our Chief Principal for always supporting such activities,” Mokiera added.
As Cancer Awareness Month continues, the Eldoret National Polytechnic community stands united in spreading love, awareness, and hope to those affected by cancer.
