The Kenya Coast National Polytechnic (KCNP) today hosted a delegation from Kombolcha Polytechnic College, Ethiopia, on a benchmarking mission aimed at strengthening cross-border collaboration in technical and vocational training.
Focus Areas of the Visit
The visit centered on KCNP’s governance, training programmes, industry linkages, and accreditation of training programmes, among other areas.

“The Ethiopian delegation focused on the Polytechnic’s governance, training programmes, industry linkages, and accreditation of training programmes, among other areas,” reads the statement in part.
Delegation Leadership
The visiting team was led by Solomon Negash, the East Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP) Centre Leader.
“Hosting Kombolcha Polytechnic College reaffirms our role as a regional hub of excellence in technical and vocational education,” KCNP noted.
Strengthening Regional Integration
The benchmarking mission reflects the spirit of regional knowledge sharing and collaboration championed under EASTRIP, which seeks to transform technical and vocational education while strengthening cooperation among African polytechnics.
Benefits to Students
KCNP said the engagement will also benefit its learners by enhancing training models, industry linkages, and exposure to international best practices. The institution noted that the collaboration will ultimately equip students with market-relevant skills, innovation capacity, and employability to thrive in both local and regional job markets.
