Police officers engaged in a confrontation with boda boda riders who organized protests because of an alleged incident which occurred with county enforcement officers.
The unrest began when boda boda operators arrived in the CBD at dawn. They claimed that county askaris had harassed one of their colleagues during an incident which occurred on Monday. The riders alleged that the mistreatment of their colleague led to widespread anger throughout the boda boda community which resulted in their decision to stop operations while they organized demonstrations to demand accountability from the county government.

Police officers approached the growing group of protesters to control the situation while they attempted to clear the streets. The ensuing conflicts between officers and riders created major disruptions to all activities which took place in the town center. Multiple businesses had to stop their operations temporarily while drivers avoided the affected streets to escape the ongoing turmoil.
Eyewitnesses reported that police used force to remove demonstrators from critical locations which led some riders to create makeshift barricades on major roads that completely stopped all traffic. The economic activity in the normally busy CBD area came to a standstill as violent confrontations escalated between police officers and the protesters.
The town center remained tense at mid-morning because of increased security personnel who had been deployed to prevent any potential conflict escalation. The report confirmed that no injuries or arrests occurred during the clashes according to the latest information available at the time of writing.
The county government did not provide an official response to the harassment allegations despite mounting pressure from the boda boda sector and public members for investigations into enforcement officer behavior.
Local residents and business owners requested that people maintain peace between themselves because they believed that continued unrest would damage businesses in the dynamic commercial center. Security agencies requested that all boda boda riders should present their concerns through legal methods while employees worked to restore order in Eldoret CBD.
