As many Kenyans celebrate Father’s Day by honouring responsible and caring fathers, Kilifi Governor Gideon Maitha Mung’aro is in mourning following the death of his father, Gideon Baya Mung’aro Senior, who passed away today.
The Governor, while reflecting on the significant role his father played in his life, took a moment to recognize all fathers across the country, even as he deals with personal grief.

He expressed heartfelt appreciation to his family, friends, and the public for their support during this painful period.
“Your kindness is helping us through this difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” said Mung’aro in a statement he shared online. Governor Mung’aro described his late father as a pillar of strength and a man whose guidance shaped his values and leadership.

The outpouring of sympathy from the community, he noted, has been a great source of comfort and encouragement to him and his family.
As people across the nation mark Father’s Day in different ways, the Governor’s tribute serves as a solemn reminder of the lasting impact fathers leave behind and the importance of honouring their legacy
