
Police officers in Mtwapa have arrested a suspect believed to be part of a notorious three-man gang that has been terrorizing residents around Biashara Street.The arrest followed a tip-off from members of the public, prompting a swift response by officers from Mtwapa Police Station.
A sting operation was carried out near Bemu Guest House, leading to the interception of the gang and the successful arrest of one suspect.
During a search, police recovered a backpack containing:
Three smartphones suspected to be stolen
Seven and a half large rolls of dried green plant material, believed to be cannabis
A kitchen knife
A taser
The suspect is currently being held at Mtwapa Police Station, pending arraignment in court. All recovered items have been secured as exhibits to aid ongoing investigations.
Authorities confirmed that efforts to track down the remaining two suspects are ongoing, with officers following crucial leads.The National Police Service thanked members of the public for their vigilance and cooperation, calling on continued support in the fight against crime.
