The 2025 KSSSA National Football Championships concluded in thrilling fashion at the Mumias Sports Complex, with Butere Girls and St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale emerging victorious in closely contested finals.

Butere Girls Complete National Hat-Trick
In the girls’ final, Butere Girls sealed their third consecutive national title after edging out Madira Girls 1-0 in a tense encounter. The Red Commandos struck early, finding the back of the net in the 11th minute through a well-placed header that ultimately decided the match.
From that moment, Butere showcased composure and defensive discipline, fending off several attacks from Madira, who pushed relentlessly for an equaliser. At the final whistle, celebrations erupted from Butere’s bench and supporters as they cemented their legacy in schoolgirls’ football with a historic three-peat.
Nasokol Triumph in Penalty Drama
Earlier in the day, the third-place playoff between Nasokol Girls and Kobala Girls delivered end-to-end action. Kobala opened the scoring, but Nasokol equalised just before halftime to level it at 1-1. With no goals in the second half, penalties followed—Nasokol holding their nerve to win 4-3 and secure the bronze medal.
All four semi-finalists—Butere, Madira, Nasokol, and Kobala—have now qualified for the East African School Games, earning a chance to represent Kenya on the regional stage.
Jobo Clinch First-Ever National Title
In the boys’ final, St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale—popularly known as “Jobo”—made history with a 1-0 victory over Musingu Scorpions. Played at a blistering pace, the match was decided by a second-half goal, which sent the Kitale side and their fans into jubilation. The win was especially meaningful for Jobo, who had come close in previous tournaments but never clinched the title. Their triumph now marks a new chapter for the school’s football program.
Highway Secure Bronze in Boys’ Playoff
The boys’ third-place match also saw drama unfold, as Highway Secondary edged Agai Mixed 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw. Both teams had fought hard throughout the match, but it was Highway who held steady from the spot to claim third place.
Focus Shifts to Regional Stage
With the nationals concluded, Kenya’s flag will now be carried by Butere, Madira, Nasokol, Kobala, St. Joseph’s Kitale, Musingu, Highway, and Agai Mixed at the upcoming East African School Games—where the continent’s best await.
