EACC Flags Off 350km Anti-Corruption Walk from Eldoret to Nairobi

Crusaders Begin 10-Day Awareness Walk
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Thursday launched a 350-kilometre walk from Eldoret to Nairobi aimed at raising public awareness on the fight against corruption. The anti-corruption team started their walking mission which serves as a public demonstration of their commitment to integrity and accountability.

EACC Backs Integrity Campaign
EACC Deputy Director of the North Rift Regional Office Kuntai Ole Tingisha announced during the flag-off ceremony that volunteers would finish the route within about 10 days. He explained that the walking event aims to establish a community-wide commitment against all forms of corruption.

“Their clarion call is ‘Journey to Singapore, Zero Corruption.’ EACC operates its mission to prevent and investigate corruption therefore we back all programs which spread this message to the public according to Tingisha.

Planned Stopovers and Public Support
Tingisha stated that the commission will provide monitoring and assistance to the team throughout their expedition while they take breaks at EACC regional offices before entering their next stop in Nairobi. The team will arrive at the capital city to be recognized by the commission who will greet them at their main office. He requested people to back the team during their capital town visits while explaining that everyone must take part in fighting corruption.

Grassroots Push for Zero Corruption
The walk is being led by anti-corruption crusader Mark Kirwa who described the initiative as a voluntary effort aimed at advocating for zero corruption in the country. He mentioned that the country faces development obstacles which need immediate resolution because of widespread corruption and impunity and bribery problems.

“This is a footing challenge in advocating for zero corruption. For our country to achieve meaningful development we must do away with corruption and impunity and bribery. according to Kirwa.

Integrity Values Start Early
Kirwa explained that the campaign targets Kenyans of all ages and emphasizes the importance of starting the fight against corruption at the grassroots level. He explained that corrupt behaviour starts from minor offenses which become established patterns once people experience bribery practices from their early life.

“Corruption begins small. Even when we unknowingly teach children to engage in bribery it becomes a habit. We should uphold integrity values from our basic community surroundings according to the speaker.

Self-Funded Initiative
The team operates through its own financial resources according to Kirwa who asked supporters to back their expedition. The crusaders will use social media to show their progress at every stop between their starting point and their destination.

Call for Collective Responsibility
EACC repeated that citizens must work together to battle against corruption. The commission plays its primary role yet all Kenyan citizens must actively protect ethical standards and integrity throughout their everyday activities.
